Sam Woo Seafood and BBQ | Our Story

Real Heritage. Honest BBQ

After immigrating from Hong Kong, Peter Cheung, his father and siblings opened a hole in the wall in Los Angeles Chinatown in 1979 serving real roasted pork and roasted duck to the Chinese community. Our small family business then expanded across Southern California, mainly San Gabriel Valley. At Sam Woo Restaurants, we care about high quality, authentic Cantonese BBQ at honest prices. Over the years, our restaurants have become an integral part of the community, bringing people together to enjoy our food.

The Craft Behind the BBQ

The Craft Behind the BBQ

Cantonese barbecue takes patience and skill. At Sam Woo, the roasted duck comes glazed with deep caramelized lacquer and the char siu has that specific sweetness that's very hard to get right.
